Esther Lee Ostrander, 87, of Hurricane, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington after a short illness.

She was a graduate of Washington District High School, Alum Creek. She was employed by the US Department of Defense as a Secretary at the Pentagon in Arlington County, VA, near Washington, DC. She was also employed by CAMC General Division, Charleston as a nursing assistant and she volunteered at Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane. She was a member of the Hurricane Church of Christ.

Born December 13, 1927 in Alum Creek, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Eva Midkiff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Caryl Ostrander .

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Holtsclaw (James) of Ashland, KY, Brenda McClelland (James) of Hurricane, Tamma Francis of Hurricane; her son, Stephen Francis of Amesbury, Mass.; grandsons, Scott Brenner (Michelle) of Elkview and Stephen Francis Jr (Julie) of Amesbury, Mass.; granddaughters, Kelly Aldridge (George) Ashland, KY, Sara Mick (Greg) of Hurricane, Michelle Chasse of Salem, Mass.; and a host of great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Hurricane Church of Christ, 600 Midland Trail, Hurricane, WV 25526 on Sunday, September 20th, at 4:00 with Elder Ed Covert officiating. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Hurricane Church of Christ, for their home missions.
