Florence "Penny" Binion

Florence “Penny” Binion, 74, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2026.

Born on November 2, 1951, Penny was the daughter of the late Kathleen Workman Binion and Warren Binion. She worked for many years as a sales clerk. Penny found great joy in creating handmade gifts for those she loved, whether it was a beautiful quilt or a special set of pillowcases. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family who meant everything to her.

In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by the love of her life, Flem Smith; her brother, Pete Binion; and her two sisters, Sandra Farris and Donna Bailey.

She is lovingly survived by her three daughters, Tammy Hare (Ron) of Charleston, West Virginia, Kim Housley (Jerry) of Cawood, Kentucky, and Stephanie Hutchison (David) of Charleston, West Virginia.

Also left to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren, Ashley Hare (Matt), Christyn Cloud (Bryan), Taylor Beatty (Ronnie), and Jerry Housley (Dixie); her four great-grandchildren, Madison, Ronald, Amelia, and Trinity; her beloved granddog, Rika Lynn; her sister-in-law and best friend of 63 years, Rhonda Binion; her brother-in-law, Louis Farris; her dear niece, Mackie Williams; her close friend, Jerry Larch; along with many other cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Woman’s Club of Dunbar.

Penny’s kindness and laughter will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
