Florence Marie Haston's Obituary
Florence Marie Cox Haston, 102, of Institute passed away on December 11, 2013 at Thomas Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 18, 1911 in Norton, VA.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty J. Bowman, Alberta M. Haston, and Melzenia Fluellen; sister, Ruby C. Hill; one granddaughter, Alice J. Wilson; four grandsons, Melvin Fluellen, Anthony Fluellen, John Bowman, and Derek Bowman; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Florence loved to play piano and the organ. She played the organ on the Sternwheeler P.A. Denny. She also played the organ at Institute Church of The Nazarene, where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. Florence was a longtime member of the Shawnee Senior Citizen. Florence has received several awards for her services to her church and community.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Institute Church of The Nazarene with Reverend James Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.
Friends and family may call one hour prior to service at the church.
Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
