Floyd F. "Bud" Jack, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness.
He retired from DuPont after 37 years of service as a laboratory analyst. During his years of service with DuPont, he missed only 2 days of work. He was born in Parkersburg on March 3, 1922. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School. His family moved to Dunbar at the beginning of World War II. He joined the US Navy and served in the South Pacific on the PT boats for 4 years.
Upon his return home, he joined the WV Air National Guard and attended Morris Harvey College. He graduated in June of 1950; his Guard unit was called to active duty for the Korean War in October of 1950. He served as an SSgt with the 108th Maintenance Squadron.
Bud was a member of First Baptist Church of Dunbar, where he served as a deacon. Bud was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Kanawha County Democrat Executive Committee.
Bud was the son of the late Lynn C. Jack and Eunice Brookhardt Jack. Bud was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Jack; sister, Jo Ann Jividen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Eloise Hamon Jack; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sharon Jack of St. Albans; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Larry Wilder of Charleston, Linda and Samuel Wood of South Charleston; sister-in-law, Faye Jack of Dunbar; four grandchildren, Azureé (Joel) Kuhn, Josh Jack, Cain Wilder, Samuel Wood; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Alexandria, and McKenzie Salerno. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, at First Baptist Church of Dunbar, with the Rev. Thomas E. Stevens, Sr. presiding. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens with military honors provided by the VFW St. Albans Post.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, and two hours prior to the service at the church.
