Floyd N. Robertson, Jr. of Charleston passed away Dec. 5, 2006.
He was born on Feb. 22, 1918, a son of the late Floyd and Lucy Robertson, Sr. of East Kanawha Estates. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 65 years, Christine.
Retired from Union Carbide as a master carpenter, Floyd's expertise and skill earned him the nickname "Keen Eye" from his friends and coworkers. In his younger years, Floyd was an avid bowler and sportsman.
He was a born again Christian and a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church in Kanawha City. Until his health prohibited him, Floyd loved going to church and leading the congregation in music.
In their later years, both Floyd and Christine loved to garden and sit on the back porch side by side for hours. After she passed in 2003, Floyd remained in their home they built and loved so much. Even though he was surrounded by a loving family, he was lost without his partner and lifemate. Though he was as happy as could be, he was broken hearted without Christine. Now they are together, forever, hand in hand.
Survivors include a brother, Rev. U. G. Robertson and his wife, Betty of Portsmouth, Va.; son, Floyd Franklin Robertson of Wyoming; two daughters, Nancy Knowles and her husband, Stan of Georgia and Susan A. Milan and her husband, Oren of South Charleston; nephew and caregiver, Floyd "Abe" Angelo of Charleston and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of HospiceCare, especially Pat Taylor and Jettie Young for all the love and care they gave to Floyd during their stay with him. Your kindness can never be repaid. You are truly angels sent from God.
