Frank Jarrell, 85, of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Frank served in World War II under Gen. George S. Patton's tank brigade and was wounded in Metz, France, where he was awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Liberation of France Medals. He was a member VFW Post 9097, Hurricane, and of American Legion Post 187, Winfield, where he was an active member of the honor guard.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Pearl Jarrell; brothers, Ray and Emil Jarrell; and sisters, Lois Davis, Irene Prince and Marie Bevenour.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Helena Grace Peters Jarrell; son, Bryce Jarrell (Barbara) of St. Albans; daughter Belinda Jarrell Shawver (Mike) of St. Albans, grandchildren, Bryce Jarrell II (Carrie) of So. Charleston, Amber Jarrell Matty (Gary) of St. Albans, Brent Jarrell (Hollie) of Morgantown, Bethany Jarrell of St. Albans; great-granddaughters, Alexis and Emilie Jarrell; brother, Richard Jarrell (Pat) of Richfield, OH, and many other extended family members.
Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 24, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Evangelist Tom Bowen officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Madison, with full military rites by American Legion Post 187, Winfield.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
