Frank Smith, a lifelong resident of Dunbar, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013, following an extended illness.
He was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of '57 and West Virginia State College. He was President and owner of Urban Cleaners of Dunbar for 52 years.
Frank was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Charleston where he served on the Board of Deacons as a Deacon Emeritus and on the Board of Trustees. He was a faithful member of the B.Y.K.O.T.A. Sunday school class. He also served on the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Launderers and Dry Cleaners Association.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Donsel and Anna Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rilla Skeen Smith and by a special cousin, Charlotte Fleshman who was raised like a sister.
A very heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Richard Hayes, Lora, DeDe and Peggy of the South Charleston Primary Care Associates for their thoughtfulness, care and compassion during Frank's illness and passing and to our Pastor Jody Pistore and our special prayer warriors, Debbie Harden and Tom and Dorothy Mooney. A special thanks to Frank's friend, Jim Ranson, for always being there when Frank could no longer do the task at hand.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Jody Pistore officiating. Entombment will follow in the Cunningham Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call at from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 18, Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church of South Charleston, 515 D Street, South Charleston, WV 25303.
