Freda Duncan Archer, 91, of Cross Lanes, passed into Heaven on Tuesday, April 6, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington after a short illness.
Mrs. Archer was born and raised in Dunbar and graduated from Dunbar's Union District High School in 1937.
She married Garland Archer of Dunbar and they had four children, Danny Joe Archer, currently living in Altamonte Springs, Fla, Gary Wayne Archer of Hurricane, Philip Alan Archer of Fort Myers, Fla. and Carol Archer Opperman of Cross Lanes. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The Archers had eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Mrs. Archer was a homemaker living in Dunbar until the death of her husband in 1995, and then she moved to her daughter's home in Cross Lanes. Mrs. Archer was an excellent cook and was active in her home church, the Dunbar Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter and son-in-law, visiting her family. She was loved by all who knew her. Proverbs 31: 25-31.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 8, at the Dunbar Church of the Nazarene.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 9, with Pastor Greg Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House at 3100 Staunton Avenue, Huntington, WV 25709.
