Freda Mae "Pete" Newhouse Auer, 75, of Huntington died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at her home.

She was born August 27, 1941 in Charleston, a daughter of the late Arthur E. and Hazel M. Newhouse.

"Pete" was a graduate of Elkview High School and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dunbar.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bacil Newhouse and Terry Newhouse; and sister-in-law, Betty Jane Hermansdorfer.

"Pete" is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jack L. Auer of Huntington; daughter, Micki Shaver and husband, Mitch, of Huntington; son, David L. Auer and wife, Regina, of Madison, NC; five grandchildren, Erin, Adam and Karl Shaver, and Justin and Jessica Auer; three brothers, Harley Newhouse of Fleming, OH, Harry Newhouse and Gary Newhouse, both of Elkview; sister, Juanita Brown of Elkview; sister-in-law, Judy Toney and husband, Alfred "Buddy", of Moneta, VA; brother-in-law, Paul C. Hermansdorfer of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. David Bush officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
