"Catfish" Salmon
June 7, 1950 – February 26, 2024
G. Michael "Catfish" Salmon, age 73, of Poca, WV, passed away on February 26, 2024 in Columbus, OH.
He was born on June 7, 1950 in Dunbar, WV, to the late Robert and Helen Salmon.
Catfish, as he was fondly known, served in the United State Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he pursued a career as an Operator at DuPont Chemical Plant in Belle, WV.
A man of many passions, Catfish lived for fishing, enjoyed westerns, movies, basketball, football, and was a devoted fan of WVU. His dedication to his hobbies was only matched by his love for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debby Salmon; sons, Chris (Brooke) of Alabama and Mike (Addie) of Poca; daughters, Kerrie Salmon of Florida, Amanda Painter (Matt) of Given, and Melany Salmon of St. Albans; step-son, Charles Hedrick (Kelly) of Pennsylvania; thirteen grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and various cousins.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 4 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow in Donal C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery.
Catfish will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Sailor.
