Garnet Christine Brotherton, 91, of Dunbar, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Dunbar Care and Rehabilitation.
She was a former school teacher in Jackson County, but mainly she was a homemaker who was a loving wife and mother and grandmother.
Garnet was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dunbar and was a former Sunday School teacher at the Emma Chapel United Methodist Church in Liberty. She was a graduate of Sissonville High School and Marshal University.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Charles H. Brotherton.
Surviving are her children, Randy Brotherton of Dunbar, Ronald Brotherton of South Charleston, Don Brotherton of Scott Depot, Cindy Brotherton Koster of Cross Lanes and Tammy Brotherton Dacken of Baltimore, OH; grandchildren, Hannah Koster, Mary Koster Dorsey, Nicolas Koster, Hallie Brotherton, Henry Brotherton, Hugh Brotherton, Ryan Long, Jon Long, Jeremiah Brotherton, Rose Brotherton, Matthew Brotherton, Jennifer Weber, Lucas Dacken, Levi Dacken and Amber Dacken; great grandson, Jakob Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. John Koster officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
