Garrett Rexford Walker

Garrett Rexford Walker, 86, of Dunbar, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

He was born on April 30, 1940, in Charleston, WV, to the late Delbert Walker and Reba Walker Robinson.

Gary was a retired Boilermaker of 50 years from the Local 667.

He loved to race dirt track cars, which he did for ten years, winning a local championship and he was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer fan. He also enjoyed spending Saturday nights playing bing with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol “Jeanie” Walker; his brothers, Dana Walker, Lonnie “Bill” Walker, David Walker, and Tom Walker; and his sister, Faye Harding.

Gary is survived by his daughters, Glenva Bailey (Tom) of Dunbar; Deanna Hendricks (James) of East Bank; grandchildren, J.P. Taylor IV of Louisiana, Cody Taylor of St. Albans, Tyler Hendricks of East Bank, Dylan Hendricks (Sophia) of East Bank; five great grandchildren; brother, Lovell Walker (Rose) of Hurricane; sisters, Wanda McGraw of Sissonville and Annie Shaffer of Cross Lanes; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Family will welcome visitors two hours prior to the service on Monday, August 3, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Center Society or Tunnels of Towers.
