Obituary

George Franklin Waugh, 87, of Cross Lanes, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, December 14, 2010.

He passed away peacefully at home. He was a decorated Navy combat veteran in WW II. He earned a purple heart and several other medals from the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He worked at the Union Carbide Institute Plant for 34 years and was a member of Union Local Lodge 656. He enjoyed travel and camping with his wife and family and also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He was born on February 28, 1923. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His smile could bring a smile to the saddest face around. He always believed laughter was the best medicine.

He was the son of William Arthur and Sarah Etna Waugh. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Billie Jane Waugh; his sister, Janet Beatrice "Bea" Vancamp-Sullivan; his two children, Rodney Franklin Waugh and his wife, Judy Ann and Penny Lynn Gamber and her husband, Boyd Allen; his three grandchildren, Alanna Lauren Gamber, Melissa Ann Waugh and Joseph Bryan Gamber; his two great grandchildren, Kira Leanna Pilloud and Kaylie Madison Pilloud. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews as well as many good friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 17, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Carroll Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens with military honors.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 16, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
