Gerald "Jerry" G. Jones, 83, of Dunbar, passed away on August 12, 2026.
Jerry was born in Dunbar to Oral and Clarcie Jones and was a lifelong resident of Dunbar. He was a Christian and attended Dunbar Church of Christ.
Jerry was a man of few words but had a big heart. He always knew how to fix things and always had a tool ready. In his younger years, Jerry loved fishing, hunting, motorcycle riding with his brothers — especially hill climbing — and metal detecting. He was a devoted WVU football fan and took great pride in his yard.
A former employee of Picker X-Ray, Jerry retired in 2015 from St. Francis Hospital after more than 40 years of service.
Jerry is survived by his children: Beverly Jones-Burford, Bub Jones (Marti), and Melissa Jones; his grandchildren: C.J. McClanahan, Olivia Jones, Corey Hancock, and Jarrett Jones; his oldest brother, Larry Jones, Sr.; his nieces: Terri Whitman, Regina Good, and Jessica Jones; his nephew, BB Jr.; his sister-in-law, Loretta Jones; and his beloved dog, Scarlett. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he was simply "Pawpaw" to all.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Paulette, who passed in 2017; his daughter, Tina, who passed this past January; his parents, Oral and Clarcie Jones; his brother, BB; his nephew, Larry Jones Jr. (Bubby); and his son-in-law, Chip Burford.
One thing Jerry taught his children was to have a strong work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank the staff at Glasgow Hills for their compassion and comfort in Jerry's care.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow the service at Grandview Memorial Park.
