Gerald Kirk, 79, of Dunbar, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2018.

He was born on August 3, 1938 to the late Austin and Kathryn Mooney Kirk. He attended the Dunbar Mountain Mission and loved his church and his church brothers and sisters. He was retired from the City of Charleston Sanitary Board.

Along with his parents, his sister Patty O'Brien and brother Danny Hutchison Kirk preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Hamilton Kirk; daughter, Candace Kirk of Charleston; sons, Danny Kirk of Costa, Mark Kirk of St. Albans and step- son Jerry Sapp of Dunbar; step-mother, Barbara Jean Kirk of Ashford; brothers Benny Critchfield of Ashford, Michael Critchfield of Florida; sisters, Linda Slack of Charleston, Brenda Jordan of Costa, Shelia Mooney of Teays Valley and Debbie Eplin of Strange Creek; grandchildren, Danielle Green, Chad Kirk, Aiden Milam, Hanna Kirk, Hollie Kirk and Haley Sapp. He was also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Gerald dearly.

In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on April 27 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Ray Parsons and Rev. Billy Lucas officiating.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

The family would like to thank the staff at Thomas Memorial Hospital in CCU/PCU on second floor and fourth floor for their care and love. Also a big thank you for the love and care he received from Hospice Care.

HE IS NOW SAFE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS.
