Gilbert Willard Payne, 94, of Dunbar, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his home.
He was formerly employed by the Meadow River Lumber Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dunbar. Mr. Payne was a member of the Dunbar Lodge AF & AM #159, was a 60 year member of the Beni Kedem Shrine and was a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a native of Trout, WV and was a lifelong resident of Dunbar.
He was the son of the late George Washington and Ida Payne.
Surviving are his sons, Charles Payne and his wife, Mary Beth, Keith Payne and his wife, Beth; daughters, Della Steele and her husband, Kenneth, Wanda Sholdis and her husband Gary, Dinah Parsons and her husband, Eddie and Judy Payne and her husband, Glenn Aaron. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 14, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Phillip Shields officiating. Entombment with Masonic rites will be in the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, February 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
