Obituary

Gladys Combs Arthur passed away to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the age of 94.

Gladys was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was born in 1913 in Knott County, Kentucky. She was the youngest of nine children. She moved to Charleston in the late 1930's. She resided in Sattis, WV until the 1960's when she and her family moved to Hurricane. She spent her final years in South Charleston.

She worked at Carnegie - Illinois Steel Corporation with her sister, Grace, during World War II. She was very active in numerous churches throughout the Kanawha Valley, especially Grace Baptist Temple.

Her husband of 46 years, Gene Arthur, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Arthur is survived by her son, Richard Arthur of Hurricane; sister, Grace Campbell of South Charleston; nieces and nephews, including, Elva Morrison of Hurricane, Brenda Raynes of South Charleston, and Harold Campbell of Hurricane. Mrs. Arthur was a devout Christian who loved her Lord. Her family and friends will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 4 Keller Funeral Home,Dunbar, with the Rev. John T. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Friends may call beginning at 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
