Obituary

Rev. Glenn Ray Parsons, 67, of Dunbar, was born April 6, 1946 and completed his journey on February 22, 2014.

Glenn was living proof that "God is still in the miracle business." He fought heart disease, kidney failure and diabetes for nine years before receiving his last and greatest miracle: total healing in Heaven with Jesus Christ.

Rev. Parsons fell in love with the Lord at a young age and at 13 he accepted his call to ministry. He graduated from Gulf Coast Bible College in 1978 with degrees in Bible and Psychology and later received his Masters degree from Marshall University.

Glenn spent 45 years as a First Church of God minister in the state of West Virginia. Throughout his career he was a full-time pastor at churches in Richwood, Dunbar, Oceana, Wheeling, Cottle and Sharon and was currently Pastor Emeritus at Dunbar First Church of God.

Glenn's heavenly homegoing reunited him with his best friend and brother, Eddie Parsons; his beloved aunt Dorothy Parsons; and numerous other family, friends and former congregation members.

Rev. Parsons' memory will live on through his loving wife of 48 years, Helen Parsons; children, David Parsons and Dawn Parsons; granddaughters, Stephanie Short, Ali Holmes, Jenny Short and Savannah Kincaid; his only grandson and "best buddy" Josiah "Eddie Ray" Kincaid; mother-in-law, Nora Hughes of Glasgow; and closest friends, Denny Smith and Eugene Paitsel; and countless other family and friends.

We will celebrate Glenn's life through visitation on Wednesday, February 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Dunbar First Church of God and funeral services on Thursday, February 27, also at the church at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Scott Haynes, the Rev. Billy Roe and the Rev. David Bowen officiating. Burial will follow the service at Montgomery Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sarah Nease, Dr. Rahman, Dr. Stone and Dr. Chris Kennedy and their respective staffs for their extraordinary care throughout the years.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
