Glenna Kay
Mason
February 4, 1942 – November 26, 2020
Glenna Kay Ballard Mason, 78, of Loudendale, went home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with her husband and two sons on Thursday, November 26, 2020.
She was born February 4, 1942, to the late Hank and Edith Ballard.
Glenna loved her very large family more than anything and was dedicated to them. She raised four of her own children and one of her granddaughters. She was always willing to guide and give advice to any one of us who asked, and sometimes even when we didn't ask, on raising "HER" grandkids and great-grandkids. Glenna spoke her mind, if she didn't say it with words, you certainly knew what she was thinking by her facial expressions.
Her home was always opened to anyone who needed a place to stay. In 63 years of marriage, it was a rare occasion for her house to be empty. Glenna was happiest when her home was full. She loved family traditions and passed them down to many of us. She loved to cook and bake. Everyone knew when they needed a good home cooked meal, all they had to do was call or just show up. She was a true inspiration, not just to her family, but to everyone she met.
Glenna was a true matriarch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years,, Donald Mason Sr.; sons, Donald "Donnie" Mason Jr. and Terry Mason; grandsons, Kerry Mason and Barry Mason; granddaughter, Chelsea Kitchen; great-granddaughter, Angel Kitchen; brother, David "Mike" Ballard; and grandson-in-law, Joshua Nunley.
Glenna is survived by her daughter and caretaker, Wanda Mason Haynes Derrick (John); daughters, Robin Mason Casdorph (Earl) and Angela Mason Kitchen (David); grandchildren, Miranda Mason Nunley (Jason Harper), Terry Mason (Christina Burdette), Brenda Hayes, Crystal Hayes, Chasadina Kitchen Cook (Josh), Ashley Casdorph (David Jones), Brent Hayes, Jessica Casdorph (Travis Jones), Allison Casdorph Copen (Cody), Kimberly Mason Ingram (Nick) and Christopher Kitchen (Chesney Daugherty); great-grandchildren, Mark Nunley (Marie Bradshaw), Tristin Harper, Austin Harper (Haley Swartz), Jason "J.T." Harper Jr., Ryder Barton, Brooklyn Barton, Levi Barton, Josilyn Cook, Erica Casdorph, Donald "Jr." Burdette, Nevaeh Casdorph, Teryn Mason, Landon Copen, Sabrina Casdorph, Kaylee Casdorph, Mathew Ingram and Lucas Mason; her first great-great-granddaghter, Everleigh Harper, who will be arriving in January 2021; siblings, Sue Ballard Means, Jimmy Ballard (Susie), Linda Ballard; her very best friend who she always considered a sister, Barbara Jones; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
