Gloria Jean Breece, 65, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Putnam General Hospital on June 8, 2022.
She was born December 11, 1956, at City Hospitals in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Eddie White, Sr. and Geneva (Friendly) White. Her mother died unexpectedly when Gloria was two years old, and she and her siblings were raised by their grandparents, James and Emma Milburn.
Gloria's early education was obtained through Henry Harlem Garnett Elementary School and Garrison Junior High School, both located in Baltimore, Maryland. She later attended the Charleston Job Corps in Charleston, West Virginia for several years.
She married Lyle Leroy Breece on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2000.
Gloria was a member of Lower Falls Baptist Church, in St. Albans, where her pastor was David Patrick.
Her pastimes included any kind of needlework, quilting, watching television, reading the Bible, and listening to gospel music. She also loved helping and talking to people. However, her biggest joys were her family and especially her granddaughters, Maelynn and Hannah.
Before her passing, Gloria worked a year at Goodwill Industries International, Inc., and previously worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at various nursing centers throughout West Virginia for more than 25 years.
In addition to her mother, Geneva, and father, Eddie, Gloria was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Owens; and two brothers, James White and William Morris.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memory, her husband, Lyle Breece; son, Michael J. White (Nedrafuwa).; grandchildren, Maelynn Jean White and Hannah Lynn White; sisters, Carol "Teenie" Morris, Rose Wentworth (Clifford), and Edna Blackwell (Glenn); brother, Eddie White, Jr.; aunt, Vivian Stepney; numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and good friends, William and Cathy Gurley.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15 in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
