Gloria Jean Johnson, 69, of Nitro, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Hubbard Hospice House.
She was born on February 27, 1941 to the late Jim and Reva Balch. Gloria was a graduate of Nitro High School and Capitol City Business College. She retired from WV Workers Compensation after 15 years of service. She was also employed at WV Child Care (Link).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, James Balch, Jr.; grandson, James Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Richard D. Johnson; son, Courtenay Johnson of Charleston; daughters, Jennifer Johnson, Jaime Johnson both of Nitro; grandchildren, Christian Myers, Regan Myers, Logan Myers, Laken Johnson all of Nitro; godsister, Pauline Ruby of Randallsville, MD; very special friend, Ruth Plant of Charleston; godson, John Plant of Point Pleasant.
The family would like to ask any members of the Tri-County Choir who would be available to please join the church's choir for the service.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staffs of Select Specialty and Thomas Memorial Hospitals and Hubbard Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, at Dunbar Mountain Mission with the Rev. Jim Phillips and the Rev. Harley Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Moss Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 21, at Dunbar Mountain Mission.
