Goldia "Liz"
Elizabeth Given
September 14, 1935 – July 5, 2024
On July 5, 2024, Goldia Elizabeth "Liz" (Moten) Given, 88, beloved wife, mother, mamaw, daughter, sister, aunt and friend decided to go dancing in Heaven after a battle with lung cancer. We are sure she is happy. Although we are beyond sad, we are confident that she was met in Heaven with open arms by Jesus, her husband, Erra "Hugh" Huston, daughter, Linda (Given) Frambach, and many other friends and loved ones.
She was born September 14, 1935, in Jumping Branch, WV. The daughter of the late George Clifton and Maude Eliza (Bragg) Moten.
She is survived by her sister, Geneva Almond of Stephensville, TX; daughters, Cheryl Godwin (Mike) of Charleston, WV and Kathryn Given of Charleston, WV; son-in-law, Pete Frambach of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Cory Merritt (Elise) of Richmond, VA, Aaron Merritt (Courtney) of Wilmington, NC and Julianne Parsons (Aaron) of Cross Lanes, WV; great grandchildren, Emma & Huston; as well as countless other nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Liz was a proud graduate of Rainelle High School, class of 1953. She cherished her memories of growing up in Greenbrier County. After graduation, she moved to Charleston where she trained, and worked, as a surgical technician at Saint Francis Hospital. She also worked for a year in Oakland, CA, before returning to WV, where she raised a family, attended church, and impacted everyone she met.
We are going to miss her. Her quirky sense of humor, caring nature, good advice, her penchant for laughing in awkward moments, sitting on the porch with her, her terrible singing, and her cooking skills. We wish we had paid closer attention when she was in the kitchen.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Given Family Cemetery in Elkview.
Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
