Gordon T. Hamrick, 79, of Dunbar, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
Gordon was born September 10, 1930 at Bergoo, Webster County. He was a graduate of Webster County High School, a 1960 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and a 1967 graduate of West Virginia University. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the DAV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benson and Clemence Kelley Hamrick.
Surviving are his sister, Betty Jane Beck and her husband, Bill of Marion, OH, and nephew, Michael and his wife, Gay and their daughters, Heather and Angela of Plain City, OH; nephews Jeffrey and Charles of Marion, OH; sister, Mildred Smith of Dunbar and nephew, Jim and his wife, Denise of Indian Trail, NC and his daughter, Amanda of Poca and niece, Janet Messer and husband, Johnny of Charleston and their daughter, Jamie.
In accordance with the wishes of the deceased, the body will be cremated and there will be no viewing, visitation or services.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dunbar United Methodist Church, 1401 Myers Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064 or to the Kanawha County Animal Shelter, 1248 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV 25311.
