Greta Jean Dunlap Williams, 80 years of age, of Dunbar passed away on April 5, 2011.
She was born December 13, 1930 in Tad, WV to Talmadge Marcus and Gladys Marcia Dunbar Dunlap, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Aramcoma Alice Dunlap Lindsey.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories her daughter, Laura Lee Williams of Dunbar; son, Thomas Alfred Williams; the father of her children, Alfred "Al" Williams both of Charleston. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Edith Geraldine Dunlap Kilburn of Tad; three nieces, three nephews and many beloved great nieces and nephews.
Greta was valedictorian of the class of 1948 at DuPont High School, was a member of the Quill and Scroll Honor Society and was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" in her senior year. She graduated with honors form Davis and Elkins College and while there belonged to the Phi Mu Sorority. She went on to receive her Masters degree in Gul dance and Counseling from COGS. Greta worked as a program manager for WCHS before becoming a school teacher at Nitro High School and then became a substitute teacher in Kanawha County for a number of years.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 9, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with her nephew, the Rev. Mark Kilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to a favorite charity in Greta's memory.
