Gypsy Jo Crites, 80, of Dunbar departed this life on April 21, 2014 to be with Jesus and her husband, Leroy Crites, after a long battle with lung cancer.

She was a longtime resident and former employee of the City of Dunbar. She was an active member of the Dunbar Senior Center, where she loved spending her afternoons eating lunch with her many friends and often baked goodies for them. Gypsy served as Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Dunbar Housing Authority.

Gypsy is survived by her four children, Nancy Sayre of Dunbar, Rick Crites and wife, Kay of Hurricane, Gary Crites of Dunbar, Ron Crites and wife, Pam of Liberty; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Kanawha Hospice Care and Hubbard Hospice House West for the care they provided to Gypsy as well as the family. They would also like to thank her close, personal friend, Nancy Byard, for being there to talk to, share a laugh, or simply sit with Gypsy and keep her company.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Aaron Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
