Hans Gerber, 65, went to be with the Lord on September 25, 2011 while residing in Boise Idaho.
Hans was born in Switzerland, but lived most of his life in Hurricane where he owned and operated Creative Catering for 23 years. He was also a former employee of Governor Rockefeller, a member of the Lion's Club Saint Albans Chapter, and volunteered his time to help people with special needs. He was a great father, husband, grandpa, uncle, and friend. He was adventurous and loved life, his children, and family. He accomplished many great achievements in his life with respect and honor.
Hans was preceded in death by his parents, Frixz and Elsa Gerber of Switzerland; brother-in-law, Lewis Hurley of Florida; and sister-in-law, RoseAnne McFerran of Saint Albans.
He is survived by his sons, Jöel Gerber of Charleston, Jahn Gerber and wife Andrea of Saint Albans; mother of his children, Vicki Gerber of Charleston; sister Elizabeth Meister (Dr. Peter Büchler); grand-daughters, Bree and Kyra; nephews, Conrad, Sean, Ryan, Brandon, Derrick and Jesse; nieces, Carol, Marion, Simone, Nicole, Mary, Christie, and Julie; and many more great nieces and nephews.
Hans will be remembered as a very strong and admirable man. He and his family were blessed to be reunited shortly before his death. They spent the last week of his life by his side loving and comforting him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Friends may call one hour prior to service.
