Harold Lee Ranson, 91, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, surrounded by family at Hubbard Hospice House.
Born in Dunbar, West Virginia, Harold was the son of the late Walt and Tressie Ranson.
Harold was a devoted family man and a proud member of the Masonic fraternity, the Scottish Rite, and the Beni Kedem Shrine, where he served as Recorder for many years. His involvement in these organizations reflected his appreciation for fellowship, friendship, and community.
One of Harold's most treasured memories was receiving his 50-year Masonic pin from his father, Walt Ranson. The occasion was a rare and meaningful moment that reflected a family tradition that spanned generations.
A lifelong West Virginian, Harold was an enthusiastic supporter of West Virginia University athletics. Whether cheering on the Mountaineers or discussing the latest game with family and friends, he rarely missed an opportunity to support his beloved Gold and Blue.
Known for his vibrant personality and warm presence, Harold brought energy, laughter, and conversation wherever he went. His kindness, sense of humor, and love of family left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Ranson; his daughter, Lynn Ranson; his sister, Gwenna Riley; his brother-in-law, Ike Riley; and his brother-in-law, Jim Tolley.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Lesa Jones and her husband, Jim; his granddaughter, Jamey; his sister-in-law, Nancy Tolley; and other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hubbard Hospice House in Harold’s memory.
At Harold's request, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
