Harriet Hudson, 89, of Dunbar, departed this life on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
A life long resident of Dunbar, she is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Mary Ann Hudson, brothers Carson "Bump" Hudson, and Verl "Wick" Hudson.
Harriet, a devout Christian family woman, was the historian and matriarch of the Hudson family. Having no children of her own, she was a second mother to many nieces and nephews with her loving spirit. She was truly loved by all. Harriet retired from Prudential Insurance Company after 30 years service and was a founding member of the Roxalana Evangelical United Brethren Church where she attended for many years prior to its merger with Dunbar United Methodist Church.
Survivors include brothers, Harry "Boop" Hudson of Dunbar, Charles "Rod" Hudson and wife Gracie of Pliney; sister-in-law Inez Hudson Mitchell. She is also survived by life long friend and companion Leo Barrett, and many nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to Kanawha Valley Senior Services and caregiver Susan Pennington for the help and companionship provided.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
