Harrison Landon "Stoney" Stonestreet, 70, of Dunbar, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2006 in Thomas Memorial Hospital.
Stoney was born on June 24, 1936, in Dunbar, to the late Harrison and Rosa Munday Stonestreet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Donald Stonestreet; sisters, Helen Wentler, Elizabeth Gapter, Betty Stonestreet.
Stoney graduated from Dunbar High School in 1955. He was an outstanding football player, and made All-County that same year. He passed on a full scholarship to WVU in order to serve his country. He was honorably discharged from the US Marines as a sergeant in February 1963. He then worked in Cleveland, OH at LTV Steel out of Local 1098 for well over 30 years and had several certificates for outstanding performance. He returned to Dunbar to live at his family homeplace, where he resided at his passing.
Mr. Stonestreet is survived by his daughter, Dawn Ann Stonestreet; brother, James Stonestreet; nephews, Frank Stonestreet, David Stonestreet, the Rev. Harrison Gapter; nieces, Valerie Stonestreet, Sandy Stonestreet.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Grandview Memorial Park with the Rev. Harrison Gapter officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 25, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
