Obituary

Harry Curtis "Big Curt" Bennett, 68, of Dunbar, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012.

He retired from the City of Dunbar and Cedar Coal Co. He enjoyed outdoors especially hunting and fishing. The thing he loved the most was spending time with Curtie and Brandon at the farm; whether it was hunting, cooking, riding 4 wheelers, or just relaxing with them. Big Curt also enjoyed music and dancing, but was known for his cooking and making his famous "Big Curt's B-B-Q Sauce" which was very popular among all his friends, family, and community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Rosa Lee Bennett; son, Tommy Bennett; brother, Alonzo Bennett; and sister, Opthelia Dunham.

Big Curt is survived by his wife of 31 years, Charlene Bennett of Dunbar; sons, Curtis Bennett and wife Christy of Nitro, Brandon Bennett and wife Katrina of Hurricane, and John Bennett of Dunbar; sisters, Brenda Bennett of Middle River, MD, Rosetta Harris of Baltimore, MD, Pam Watts of Cross Lanes, and Necy Smith of Charleston; brothers, Frankie Smith and Butch Brock
of Charleston. He is also survived by six grandchildren, John Thomas, Taineka, Tommy, JP, Raider and Ava, two great grandchildren and two special aunts, Dolly Duckwlyer and Thelma Dunham.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Reverend Shelly Bausely officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

The family would like to thank the Nursing Staff on the Third Floor Thomas Wing Oncology at Thomas Memorial Hospital for all their help and support and all of the host of friends that shared a prayer or words of encouragement.
