Harry "Boop" Hudson, 86, of Dunbar, departed this life on January 27, 2011, at CAMC – Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Harry, a life long resident of Dunbar, retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 625 in Charleston. He also worked at the Charleston National Bank of Commerce and Goodrich Gulf Chemical in Institute.
He served his country in World War II as a navy man in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He served at Iwo Jima and other areas in the South Pacific.
Harry loved gardening and sharing his crops with others. He enjoyed spending time at camp on Elk River. He was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a hand to those who needed his help.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Cain Hudson and brothers, Carson and Verl Hudson. He is now reunited with them and his sister, Harriet Hudson who departed this life in December 2010.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Hudson and son, Chuck Hudson of Dunbar; brother, Charles Hudson and his wife, Gracie of Pliny; grandchildren, Ryan, Brittany, Aron and Julia; and his faithful dog Buddy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, January 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Tom Price officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
