Hazel V. Kelley, 86, of Dunbar, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2008 at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation, Dunbar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard H. and Viola Kersey Kelley; her brother, Justin A. Kelley; her sisters, Mabel Forbes and Beulah Booth; and a special nephew, Justin A. Kelley, Jr.
She is survived by an extended family of nieces and nephews, among them: Ruth Arthur of Poca, Jeff Arthur of Poca, Candy Fite of Ohio, Richard Forbes of Florida, Dena Kelley of Alaska, Michael Kelley of St. Albans, Susan Kelley of Florida, and Shirley Wallace of Florida.
Hazel was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Dunbar. She worked for Dunbar Glass during WWII, followed by many years of service at the KVD Hardware Store in Dunbar, from where she retired. She served as a Foster Grandparent for several years in St. Albans and Spring Hill elementary schools, where she enjoyed helping the children and teachers. She lived for a number of years at the Dunbar Towers, before an illness resulted in her spending most of the past year at SunBridge.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff members who provided care to her at SunBridge for their many kindnesses.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, December 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with her nephew, Pastor Jeff Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
