Mr. Henry Michaelson, 87, of Dunbar, formerly of Nitro, peacefully passed from this life to his heavenly home on February 24, 2014. Henry was born October 2, 1926 to the late Otto Henry and Dorothy Grace Michaelson. In addition to his parents, those who welcomed him home at Heaven's gate are son, Gary Michaelson; five brothers, Owen, Jim, Reed, Clarence and Ray; three sisters, Edna Helen Michaelson, Elizabeth Cole and Louise Coffey. Henry was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he served proudly through several wars. His hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles and collecting aluminum cans. He is survived by his daughters, Julia Lange (Rob) of Dunbar, Patricia Sansom of Dunbar, Janice Wingate (Stephen) of Newark, Ohio; former wife, Elsie Marie Michaelson; grandchildren: Greg Michaelson, Amanda Caruthers (Dustin), Nicholas Wingate, Ashlee Lange, Todd Wingate (Tia), Jennifer Wingate and Kaitlynn Wingate; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Caruthers and Avalyn Caruthers; brother, Wilburn "Hoot" Michaelson; sisters, Aileen Matheney, Margaret Ann "Midge" Keller and Dorothy "Dot" Moles; and many, many nieces and nephews. The family would like to send a special thank you to Nellie Brown, who took very good care of Henry. Henry's memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Dave McCormick officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Thursday.
