Obituary

Herbert Earl "Jiggs" Arnott, 78, of Cross Lanes, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2006 in Hubbard Hospice House.

Herb was one of nine children, born January 20, 1928, in Vandale Fork, Roane County, to the late Estace Coleman Arnott and Blanche Gilpin Arnott. Herb was a graduate of Spencer High School and attended West Virginia State College. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Army. Herb was employed by Union Carbide for several decades and worked on a variety of projects at Institute, WV; Taft, LA; and Puerto Rico. Herb was a very actice member of the Cross Lanes Bible Church and performed volunteer work at the Cross Lanes Christian School and missionary work both domestically and abroad. Herb had an avid interest in hunting, fishing, outdoor activities, and bluegrass music. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and stepfather to three children.

Mr. Arnott is survived by his wife, June S. Arnott; brothers, Ralph Arnett of St. Albans, Kenneth Arnott of Dunbar; sister, Juanita Simmons of Parkersburg; stepchildren, Sandy West Marcy, Charly Goff, and Roland Phillips; twenty-four nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, at Cross Lanes Bible Church, with the Rev. David Buckley and the Rev. Dr. Phil Suiter officiating. Interment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, September 11, at Cross Lanes Bible Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cross Lanes Christian School, 5330 Floradale Drive, Cross Lanes, WV 25313.
