Ms. Hilda L. Gardner, 85, of Cross Lanes, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008 following a long illness.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of fifty-seven years, Arland L. Gardner. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Myrtle Maddox of North Charleston and two sisters, Nell Jean Edens and Alzada Gies.
Hilda is survived by her brother, Alfred Maddox of Jacksonville, FL; two children, son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Laura Gardner of Teays Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Jim Hancock of Cross Lanes. Hilda also leaves behind five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of friends and family members.
Hilda was a proud member of the Genesis Fellowship Church, a member of OES Nitro Chapter #153, and a proud servant of the Lord. Hilda was a strong, family oriented Christian woman whose passing has left a void in our hearts. However, by gracing us with her love, compassion, and kindness she has left us a lifetime of memories. She will always be loved and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Mark Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
