Rutledge
November 9, 1928 – September 26, 2023
Hobert N. Rutledge, 94, of Dunbar passed away at The Arthur B. Hodges Center at Edgewood Summit on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Mr. Rutledge was born on November 9, 1928, the son of the late Olvin N. "Brother" Rutledge and Winnie M. Rutledge of Charleston. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Adkins Rutledge; brother, Olvin R. Rutledge; and sister, Edna M. Fisher.
Hobert was a very proud veteran of the Korean War and was the owner/operator of the Electro Hygiene in South Charleston, West Virginia, for a number of years. He was a top notch sewing machine and vacuum repairman who liked to take things apart and put them back together. He attended church at Dunbar First Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Janice Taylor and Evelyn Smith (John) both of Charleston; sister-in-law, Rose Shafer of Virginia; brother-in-law, Terry Adkins of Alum Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held a 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Reverend David Keeney officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
