Howard William Hicks, 75, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
He was a heavy equipment operator and also was a truck driver for Surplus Property in Dunbar for 21 years. Mr. Hicks was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Estella Hicks, brother, James Perry Hicks and sisters, Kathleen Eskins, Viola Lanham and Josephine Kinder.
Surviving are children, William Hicks and wife, Carolyn, Richard Hicks and wife, Connie, Fredrick Hicks and wife, Carol, Michael Hicks and wife, Debra, David Hicks and Anna Allen and her husband, Mike; sisters, Helen Newhouse and Phyllis Hicks; former daughters-in-law, Joyce Freeman and Crystal Hicks. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 21, at the Wilson Family Cemetery, Dunbar, with the Rev. Mark Fisher officiating.
