Howard "Dink" Prowse, 87, of Charleston, passed away early Friday, Decemeber 31, 2010.
He was born in Charleston February 7,1923. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Myrtle Prowse, and brothers Marle and Dan.
Surviving are his wife, Marion Agsten Prowse, daughters Jade (Mike) Doyle of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Rachel(Bill) Fitzgerald, of Stuart, Virginia, Teresa (Wayne) Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky, and son Bruce (Kathleen) Huffman of St. Albans; and sister, Anna Whittard; 11 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
He graduated from Charleston High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 8th Air Force.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Oak Leaf Clusters, and other medals. He was a radio
operator and gunner in a B-17 with over 30 missions.
He was a former owner of the South Charleston Printing Company. He was the epitome of a salesman,and retired from Sholz Luxury Homes.
He never refused a chance to go fishing anywhere, but he loved the Greenbrier River in particular.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar, with visitation one
hour prior. Dr. Milton G. Frazier will officiate, with burial at Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston.
