Obituary

Hubbard K. "Hub" Mellert, Jr., 87, of Dunbar, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008, surrounded by family, at Jackson General Hospital after a long illness.

He was born March 16, 1921.

Dad was an employee of Goodrich Gulf in Institute until the plant moved to Texas. He was a machinist and a US Army veteran of WW II. Dad loved family cookouts, fishing and spending time with his many friends, but most of all he loved his family. He was a very loving and caring Dad, Papa and great Papa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubbard K. and Stella Mae Mellert; brothers, Bob, Kenny, Don and Gene; sisters, Katie Wilkes and Vivian Robinson.

Dad is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Frances at Elder Care in Ripley; daughters, Nancy Brunty of Scott Depot and Debra King and her husband, Donald of Given; grandsons, Ron Brunty and wife, Amy of St. Albans, Naren King of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Diana Johnson and husband Ken of Cross Lanes, Wendy Lemon and husband, Rob of Charleston and Awaisha Miller and husband, Josh of Charlotte, NC. He is survived by six great grandchildren, David, Zachary, Hobie, Hannah, Abby and Brailen. Also surviving are brothers, Bill Mellert and his wife, Lucie of Charleston and Clyde "Teet" Mellert and his wife, Linda of Tampa, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Rodney Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 26, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
