Ina Christine Clark, 81, of Dunbar passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007, in Angel Avenue Assisted Living, Hurricane.
She was born June 9, 1925 in Acme, and was raised in Cabin Creek. She received a BA Degree from Morris Harvey College and a Masters Degree from West Virginia University. Christine was a dedicated and beloved English teacher at Dunbar High School for 27 years, retiring in 1989. This special lady touched and inspired many young teens that still speak of her teaching today.
She was an active member of Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church for 58 years. She influenced many lives then also as a teacher of Pre-K in Sunday School and as an active member of circle and Methodist Women. She belonged to and was president at one time of Dunbar Women's Club. She was a brownie and Girl Scout Leader for her daughter Saundra. Christine loved to read, go out to eat, play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and travel to Texas. She also enjoyed attending family nights at Dunbar
Intermediate and educational conferences with daughter, Saundra.
Her dearest husband, William G. Clark, mother, Sadie Ellen Williams, and brother, Hobart Williams, preceded her in death.
Christine is survived by her daughters, Saundra Fell of Hurricane, and Patricia Whitbeck of South Charleston; grandchildren, Clark Whitbeck of Charleston, Melissa Dugan of South Charleston, Christina Fell of League City, TX, Jonathan Fell of Missouri City, TX; great grandchildren, Molly and Janie May of South Charleston, Haven and Kailan of TX; sister-in-law, Marjorie Williams of Dunbar; nieces, Barbara Carpenter of Charleston, Beverly Spencer of Winfield.
The family would like to thank Christine's many friends and former students who often brightened her days. She has received many cards and prayers during her illness. The family would also like to thank all the wonderful staff and residents at Angel Avenue Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park.
Friends may call beginning at 11 a.m. until service time at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
