Irene June Ross, 90, of Dunbar, passed into a more restful place on July 11, 2017, after a long illness at Valley Center in South Charleston.

She was a native of Roane County, and was a graduate of Spencer High School and Bowling Green (KY) Business College.  She was a homemaker living in Dunbar for 61 years.  She was a member of Clendenin United Methodist Church and attended Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church in Dunbar.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Willard (Kayo) Ross; her parents, Dewey and Eulah Ashley; brothers, Roger and Damon Ashley, who died as infants; and step-daughter Patricia Carroll.

Survivors include her son, Michael Ross; daughter, Marsha Postle; grandchildren, Steve Postle (Lori), John Carroll (Kim), Brook Carroll; sister-in-law, Shirley Young; and several great-grandchildren, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her long time care giver and friend, Cheryl Anania and the staff at Valley Center for their help and sincere kindness.

Per her wishes the body was cremated and a Graveside Service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 5, at 11 a.m. at Koontz Cemetery, Koontz Cemetery Dr., Clendenin, with Nancy Bulla officiating.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier St., Charleston, WV 25311 in her name.
