Jack Dempsey Barnett, 82, longtime resident of Dunbar, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2014 surrounded by family and friends.

Jack enjoyed working on cars and was a diehard Ford man. He loved watching and attended NASCAR and stock car racing. He was a former driver for Henson Brother and mail delivery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Reed and Rose Ellen Wolfe Barnett; brothers, Andy Barnett, John "Capp" Barnett, Otho Jesse Barnett, and Willard Barnett; sisters, Greta Barnett, Etta Jane Barnett, Ester Coleman, Norma Cunningham, and Francis Woodyard; and great-grandson, Kolten Zander Jordan.

Jack is survived by his lifelong companion, Annie Reed Barnett; daughters, Bonnie Taylor of Elkview and Shelia Williams of Sissonville; grandchildren, Kerry and Brandi McClanahan, Annette McCoy, Rick and Angie McClanahan, Jessica and John Haulotte, Crystal and Josh Jordan; and great grandchildren, Cameron, Jadeine, Corey, Gracie, Izabella, Sophia, Aiden, and Christian; with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may call one hour prior to service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
