Jack K. Sergent lost his long battle with cancer in the early morning of May 28, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Sergent, his three children, Michael Davis, Vicki Loughry, and Angela Canter. He had nine grandchildren, Laura Davis, Tommy Rannenberg, Kristen Loughry, Kingsley Davis, Megan Loughry, Nick Canter, Seth Canter and Ryan Loughry and one great grandson, Jacob Rannenberg. He is also survived by one brother, Bob Sergent and one sister, Sandy Wyckoff.
Jack was a 1955 graduate of Dunbar High School, served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. He worked as a claims adjuster until retiring in 2009.
Jack was the most wonderful and loving husband, father and papaw. He loved more than anything being surrounded by his family. He was a hard worker and a great provider. He always looked forward to spending time with friends and neighbors. Jack was an easy going and mild tempered man, always happy and a pleasure to be around. He enjoyed each and every day of his life. Jack will be remembered lovingly and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, June 1, at the Cross Lanes Baptist Church with Rev. George Smith officiating.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
