Obituary

Ray Moore, 77, of Charleston, WV passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Jackie was born on September 10, 1947, to Benjamin "Frank" and Felsia (Phelps) Moore with special mention of his beloved grandmother who raised him, Mary Elizabeth Gallamore.

Jackie worked as a mechanic for Tag Galyean Chevrolet in Charleston and retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Nitro, WV.

Jackie commonly referred to as "Jackie Ray"; was fun loving and a naturally funny guy! He was truly loved by all who came in contact with him.

He was an avid outdoorsman; fishing, hunting (deer and squirrel) and camping.

He enjoyed watching college and NFL football (Go WVU and Steelers!).  He also enjoyed other sports such as baseball and golf!

As a young man, he was a boxer in the Golden Gloves.  Although he was not able to have an extensive career in boxing, he truly enjoyed watching others and loved teaching his children all his boxing moves!

Jackie was a previous member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles (FOE, Aerie 519) and the Charleston Moose, where he thoroughly loved singing Karaoke, Dancing and of course flirting with the ladies!  He loved playing baseball for the Eagles where he won several trophies overtime.

Listening to music was Jackie's passion and was an enthusiastic concert goer; he loved Rock and Roll (Boston, Journey, Foreigner and Chicago) and all the Oldies but goodies (Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones and many more).  He always bragged about shaking Elvis' hand at a concert back in 1975.  He loved playing the Air guitar and singing!  We all will miss hearing his precious voice singing to us on a daily basis!

Jackie was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his brothers; Eugene, Dorsel, Richard and Benjamin Moore; and his sisters, Cora Elizabeth Lester and Ila Moore-Holley.

Jackie is survived by his son, Rodney Moore (Brandi); and daughters, Tammy Hill (Dwayne) and Erika Oxley. He has 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Brown (India), Sierra Gibson (Dennis), Chase Moore (Caitlyn), and Madisyn Murray (Blake); and 4 great grandchildren along with countless other family and friends whom loved him dearly.
