James Vernon Bowen, 87, of Dunbar passed away on November 25, 2022.

James served his country in the US Air Force and was a retired truck driver. He loved to square dance and was a member of Fairlawn Baptist Church, Dunbar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Bowen.

James is survived by his son, James R. Bowen (Theresa) of Charleston; daughters, Linda Smith (Kenny) of Kechi, KS and Sandy Gohring (Dave) of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Kevin Smith, Ryan Smith, and Amanda Eggleston; and great grandchildren, Renly Eggleston, Aryah Eggleston, and Harvey Brady.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of HospiceCare and caregiver, Darlene "Dee" Gillerlain.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 1 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will be held in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home.
