Obituary

James "JB" Bradley, born April 20, 1940 in Harvey, West Virginia, went home to the Lord Friday, December 2, 2011.

He was the son of Arthur and Burnell Bradley, who preceded him in death along with his sisters Norma Jean Bradley and Patricia Moreland.

He attended public school in Fayette County where he was an outstanding sportsman playing football, basketball, baseball and running track at Mt. Hope High School.

After high school, James moved to Charleston, WV, where he married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Wesley. They enjoyed a marriage of 48 years. From this union four children were born: James Jr., Annette, Tommy, and Rod Rico.

He retired from Kanawha County Schools after 33 years of service. J.B. was a member of Harvey Missionary Baptist Church. He loved music, golfing, fishing, making friends and spending time with his family. For many years he coached little league basketball. He formed a family and friend softball team called Hanna City. He had a big heart and always gave more than he asked in return. He loved his family unconditionally and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley and daughter, Annette Bradley of Charleston; sons, James Bradley, Jr. of Charleston, Tommy and Rod Bradley of Dunbar; sister, Dorothy Peoples of Charleston; brothers, Bernard (Nora) Bradley of Boston, Massachusetts and Leon (Phyllis) Bradley of Providence, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Whitney, Jasmine, Tavian, Jarod, Sophie and Ariele. Special friend, Dixon Hamilton and many other nieces, nephews and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held Friday, December 9, 2011, 12 noon at the First Baptist Church, 432 Shrewsbury Street Charleston, West Virginia, with the Reverend Richard Bullard, presiding.

Visitation is at 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
