James Franklin Cobb, Sr., was born May 15, 1937 and departed this earth bound for eternal glory on May 27, 2006, after living the past 8 years with Alzheimers.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard L. Cobb and Velma "Billie Bayes, his daughter, Debbie and sister, Patricia Newcomer.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Minnie M. Pauley Cobb; daughters, Rachel E. Cobb of Detroit and D. Michele Cobb of South Charleston; sons, James F. Cobb, Jr. and his wife, Tonya of Sissonville and Bernie L. Cobb and his wife, Stacey Eisel of Cross Lanes; granddaughters, Faith Ann and Josie Leigh of Cross Lanes and his brother Jack Cobb and his wife, Violet "Skookie" of South Charleston.
Jim retired from Smith Transfer after 28 years of service as well as being employed at Chempower and Aluminum Metalworks. He also had owned his own shop, JCO Tractor and Trailer Repair in Belle for a short period.
"Big Jim" was loved and respected by many and was a faithful servant for the Lord Jesus Christ. Since becoming a born again Christian, his life for the past 30 years was a true testament on how Christians should live and conduct their lives. He had a reputation for helping anyone in need and loved working on anything with 4 wheels. His family is proud to have called him son, brother, husband, dad, paw paw and friend and he will be greatly missed.
His family requests anyone wishing to come and share in the celebration of his life to visit them at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00pm. The funeral service will be 11:00am Wednesday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Benjamin W. Pauley officiating. Burial will follow in Mallory Cemetery.
