James Norman "Shorty" Covert, 67, of Cross Lanes, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Covert, also known as "Frisky" to his friends, was retired from Dunbar Building Products. He loved carpentry and spent most of his life working as a carpenter. He was a member and deacon at the Dunbar Church of Christ and had lived in Cross Lanes for 33 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Covert, his son, Charles N. "Chuck" Covert and is wife, Heather D. of Anderson, SC and by his daughter, Kelly M. Waugh and her husband, Dana F. of Cross Lanes. Also surviving are his brother, Charles Wallace Covert and is wife, Jane of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Derek and Drew Waugh and Allison Covert and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Minister Donnie Joe Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
