James Clifford
Crockett, Sr.
June 5, 1949 – February 27, 2025
James Clifford Crockett Sr., 75, of St. Albans, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
He was born on June 5, 1949 in Charleston, to the late Ray and Betty Crockett.
Jimmy graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1967 and the following day he left for his duty with the U.S. Army. He retired from the Charleston Fire Department, IAFF Local 317, after 28 years of service, where he served as the assistant fire chief. After retirement, he enjoyed working at the Capital City Auction for 18 years, where he traveled to every state east of the Mississippi.
He loved spending time with his family. He had a love for the beach, enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer. Jimmy really enjoyed watching his grandkids play in the front yard. If you met Big Jim you loved him. He will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Crockett Jr.; brother, Ray Crockett Jr.; and his sister, Kathy Jones.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elaine Crockett; daughter, Mimi Crockett; daughter-in-law, Michele Crockett; grandchildren, Danelle Loy (David), Josh Crockett (Kaylie); great grandchildren, Ayden, Waylon, Lucas, and Owen; and his sisters, Elaine Shorte (Rick), and Tony Leach (Fred).
His wishes were to have no services.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hubbard Hospice House West of South Charleston, for their loving care.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
