James Ira Hill Jr. "Jim", 87, of Charleston, WV, passed away on October 10, 2025 at Charleston Area Medical Center, after a long hospital stay.

Jim was born in Parkersburg, WV, on August 31, 1938 to the late James I. Hill Sr. and Virginia S. Hill.

He  graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1956, and went on to obtain his degree in accounting. Jim began working as an auditor for the Kroger Company, where he worked 47 years before retiring in 2003.

Jim married the love of his life, Delores Kaye Hill. They briefly lived in Virginia while he served for two years in the United States Army before moving to Dunbar, WV, where they have resided since. They welcomed their one and only daughter, Betsy in 1964. Jim was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dunbar, having served as a deacon of the church and treasurer for many years.

He was most happy in life while landscaping, servicing in his church, and spending time with his family. Jim treasured his grandchildren above anything in life. No conversation lacked mention of his pride in their successes. He never knew a stranger and will always be loved by his family and community.

Jim is survived by his wife, Delores Kaye Hill; daughter, Betsy Scragg (Steve); granddaughter, Linsey Scragg (Brenden); immediate family, Julie Mathers and Jack Smith.

A service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church, Dunbar.

Family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service at First Presbyterian Church, Dunbar.

There will be a private, family ceremony in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Parkersburg.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Dunbar Food Pantry at First Presbyterian Church, Dunbar.
